Kartal 1-6 Anisimova
Another break by Anisimova and she takes the first set, her powerful hitting proving too much for Kartal.
A difficult start for the home favourite.
Ouch.
That's a blow for Sonay Kartal. While she is ranked 35 places below Amanda Anisimova in the rankings, she may not have expected to be overpowered like that.
A blow for the home player.

A big cheer of encouragement from the crowd as Kartal gets on the board in set one.
That will be a relief for the Brit.

*Kartal 0-4 Anisimova
Big cheers from the home fans as Kartal's powerful return at 30-0 down has Anisimova floundering.
The Brit will need that encouragement because that was a rare lapse by Anisimova, who continues to find the limits of the court and stretch Kartal.

No time at all for Sonay Kartal to settle here as in just over 10 minutes she’s a double break down.
Plenty of punters have just flooded back into court and will probably be a bit disappointed to see the Brit trailing.
Kartal 0-3 Anisimova*
Tough, tough start for Kartal.
The accuracy of her shots is getting better but Anisimova has all the answers, with some of her returns tucking right into the corner and leaving Kartal no chance.
*Kartal 0-2 Anisimova
Anisimova builds on the early break with a hold but some encouragement in that game for Kartal as she battled back to deuce, with a shot down the line that proved too hot to handle a highlight.
Don't talk to me about snacks, Jess, as sadly I have none.
Poor preparation.

It’s not yet filled up again after that mammoth opening match on Andy Murray Arena.
Refuelling with Pimm’s, water and snacks is an absolute necessity after that three-hour stint.
*Kartal 0-1 Anisimova
Kartal is right back behind the baseline to respond to Anisimova's serve but once engaged in the rallies she struggles a bit, sending a backhand wide before failing to reach her opponent's return and the Brit trails 30-0.

Kartal v Anisimova*
We're under way with Kartal serving first.
Sonay Kartal has enjoyed a remarkable rise in the past 12 months, moving from outside the top 250 to a career-high of 50 in the world.
She beat Daria Kasatkina of Australia in the first round for the biggest win of her career to date. Will she top that with victory this afternoon?
Right then, not too much time to rest and - crucially - not enough time for me to stock up on desk snacks because the next match is about to start.
This one sees British number three Sonay Kartal looking to try and reach the quarter-finals as she faces American eighth seed Amanda Anisimova.
Emma Navarro, who progresses to the quarter-finals: "It wasn't easy. I probably spend the most time on court with Beatriz. It always comes down to the wire and I knew it wasn't going to be easy today.
"I had to fight through the second set, regroup and I played some of my best tennis in the third set.
"I have only been playing on grass for maybe four days now so it is a quick turnaround, but it is a never a bad day playing on grass and I am having such a blast here.
"It is an honour to be here this week."

Many of the crowd inside Andy Murray Arena on their feet as Navarro comes from a set down to take that match.
They show their appreciation for a brilliant afternoon’s entertainment.
It was an absolute s the heat but fair play to Navarro. Few expected that after the opening set.
Navarro 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 Haddad Maia
This time Navarro gets the job done and competes the comeback win!
The number three seed is through to the quarter-finals.
