A great start to day two at Queen's for the Brits with that victory for Heather Watson!

Meanwhile, Sonay Kartal and Jodie Burrage have just broken serve in their opening game against Erin Routliffe and Lyudmyla Kichenok.

And, on Andy Murray Arena, we continue to focus on Katie Boulter, who is a set to the good against former world number 32 Ajla Tomljanovic.

After losing out at the end of a tight first set, Tomljanovic holds serve to get up and running in the second.

We have our first British winner of the day! A brilliant straight-set victory for Heather Watson against Yulia Putintseva puts her into the second round.

And she will face another Kazakh in Elena Rybakina, the fourth seed and 2022 Wimbledon champion who had a first-round bye.

She's just beaten someone ranked 137 places above her, which might make the prospect of Rybakina's 153-place advantage a little less daunting.

Already it feels like quite a while ago that Katie Boulter was serving for the set and Ajla Tomljanovic instead broke back.

Now into a tie-break, Boulter will have to put that missed opportunity behind her as the clock nears the hour mark.

It's hotting up on the Andy Murray Arena, literally and metaphorically as the sun starts to creep out from behind the clouds.

A terrific drop shot by Ajla Tomljanovic turns the game in her favour, as Katie Boulter scampers forward and fires up all the fast-twitch muscle fibres she can but is still a fraction of a second short.

That's some escape from Tomljanovic, and it takes us to a tie-break.

The British number one piles the pressure on Ajla Tomljanovic by winning the first couple of points on the Australian's serve.

There's very little to separate these two right now.

That's a loose forehand from Ajla Tomljanovic, though, and Boulter guarantees herself at worst a tie-break in the first set.

That felt like a crucial game for Katie Boulter to come through.

A couple of scares in there but she recovers to take an important hold.

It's still not full on the Andy Murray Arena but there's a healthy crowd in here urging the Brit on.

That took a lot of effort - but she edges back in front in the opening set and the crowd make it clear they appreciate her efforts.

Heather Watson, in her 17th year on the professional tour, has taken the first set against Kazakhstan's Yulia Putintseva.

On paper, Putintseva - the world number 27 - is the overwhelming favourite against the 164th-ranked Watson.
